I graduated from St. John High School with DeAnn and when she worked for the State of Michigan she was always willing to help me with questions I had working with guardianship clients from Berrien County. She will truly be missed.

We were classmates at St. John's and shared a love of books. I remember coming a day late for her birthday party in 3rd or 4th grade. Mom dropped me off, DeAnne opened the door and matter-of-factly told it was yesterday then said "Come on in!" When Mom picked me up she said "How was it?" I told her we had a great time - just us- and we did! I appreciated her dry sense of humor and honesty. She will be missed.

Today my heart aches. I've lost a best friend. No I've lost a Sister. We met when I was 3 and they moved in next door. She was there throughout the best childhood a kid could have. Sleepovers, Days at the beach , performing plays on her huge front steps and getting the neighborhood kids together for a parade around the block. She was there for all family events. Weddings, babies, Christmas, Baptisms and Graduations. She was there for me when my Mom died. Keeping my sanity and making sure we did something every weekend like going to Grand Rapids to hang out with my brother or driving up to Saugatuck and hanging out. There were vacations together to Florida, Washington DC, West Virginia. She was my Maid of honor and the God mother to my youngest. When we were transferred back to Michigan and couldn't find a house. She asked us to move in with her until we found one. That was the best time. We helped out at her parents store at the corner of Napier and M-140. My kids always remember the great times we had together there with her parents. Oh the trouble we'd get into and the stories I could tell. Until we meet again DeAnn Grega you will truly be missed and always loved ?

DeAnn Was the first person I sat with for training as a new worker 29 years ago! She was a wonderful person to work with. I so much enjoyed our time after her retirement, she came back to work and we would go to lunch and shopping. What a wonderful person she was. Blessings to her & her family.

I am at a loss for words. I worked with DeAnn for many years at DHS. She was such a fun person to be around. Also had many lunches with her and other retirees for years. I am so sorry, I knew she was having problems, but no idea she was so sick. Condolences first of all to her fur babies and the family.
