John Gersonde

John E. Gersonde, of St. Joseph, Michigan, 84, passed away at home on Saturday, September 1, 2018. John was born in St. Joseph on May 25, 1934, to Edward & Evelyn (Anderson) Gersonde. He graduated from St. Joseph High School where he exceled in basketball, football and baseball, going on to attend Michigan State University. John married Marilyn Hahn also from St. Joseph, after college, September 15th, 1956, together raising seven children.  John loved golf and belonged to Point O’ Woods Country Club for 55 years, he was an avid sportsman, loved downhill skiing, hunting, fishing, and boating. John was also a passionate fan of the Michigan State Spartans. John is survived by his seven children, Eric (Becky) Gersonde of Birmingham, MI., Kristen Anderson (AJ) of Sarasota, FL, Jon (Lynn) Gersonde of St. Kitts, Kevin (Meg) Gersonde of Annapolis, MD, Kurt Gersonde of Traverse City, MI, Heidi Sodetz (Bill) of Dillon, CO, and Peter (Teri) Gersonde of St. Joseph, and nine grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn who passed away September 2nd, 2016, his parents, Edward & Evelyn Gersonde and brother Jim Gersonde of Naples, Florida.
