Douglas Rankin

Douglas James Rankin, 63, of St Joseph, MI passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI. A Time of Sharing will be held 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday at the funeral home. Those wishing to share a memory of Doug online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Memorials may be made to his daughter, Mia Rankin for her continued education and enrollment at Kalamazoo Valley Police Academy.   Doug was born March 24, 1955 in Sturgis, MI to John and Janice (Gancer) Rankin. After graduating high school, he became a heavy equipment operator and a plumbing technician for Ace Plumbing. He was a WWII History Buff and loved to go fresh water fishing with his faithful friend, pit-bull buddy “Vick”. His favorite times were spent with his daughter, Mia. He was her number one fan and supporter.       Doug is survived by his mother Janice; daughter, Mia Rankin; sister, Marcia Torrey of Dexter, MI; brother, Nicholas Rankin of Kalamazoo, MI; special friends, Jill and Ken Baushke and two nephews. The family would also like to thank Hanson Hospice Center for their care and support. Doug was preceded by his father John Rankin.
