Pam, I am sorry to read the news about your mom, one of my most memorable substitute teachers. She was so fired up! She encouraged us to write letters to the editor, to be involved and to always be thinking. What a great influence and role model. Peace and good memories to your family.

I am so sorry to hear that Carolyn has passed. I went on several trips with her with Sarett Nature Center and she was such fun! I believe she went with me and my family to Alaska and Hawaii. I remember in Alaska when we got on the bus after dinner and she started singing "Blue Moon" in which the whole bus joined her. I loved her voice. So happy that I have those memories. My thoughts are prayers are with the family.

So sad to hear of Ms. Dorgelo's passing. I was a student at Creative Arts Academy in Benton Harbor for the first 3 years of its existence, 4th - 6th grades.
Her obituary made me smile as I remember the great times with her. Even though that was in the 80s, I remember so much about her. I, too, was in the Lakeland Choral Society under the direction of Barbara Born. So I knew her in class and in the performing arts.
Fond memories of learning, field trips to Sarett and she took us cross country skiing. She made a huge impact in my schooling. May you and your family be blessed by her memories, her wit and fun personality. Lashanda R Brown

In honor of Carolyn, Anne Knuth lit a candle.
I was truly sorry to hear about Carolyn’s passing. I worked with her at Creative Arts Academy for many years, teaching art to her students. She was the most innovative and creative teacher of science EVER! Her students weren’t just motivated, they were enthralled and excited about what they learned. From hands on activities ( like owl pellet dissection) to field trips (Sarrett, Chicago, etc.), they were always buzzing about something. And because her teaching style was multi-dimensional, she inspired years of students to listen, look, touch, explore, postulate and reach toward higher levels of understanding. They loved her. The staff loved her. She was unequalled, but we tried to prove worthy of her anyway.
I will never forget. AnneK Knuth

Dianna & family:
I remember your Mom most fondly from our elementary and middle school days. I ran into her a few years ago and had a moment to talk about the early days. We had a good laugh about an especially eventful overnight. She was a wonderful woman and surely will be missed. I am keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.
