Jimmy's Memory Wall
We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Jimmy here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
Jimmy's warm and welcoming spirit lives on in our hearts. We met at the Whitcomb Towers Friday Social Hour where we play music. We struck a mutual musical chord with Jimmy instantly & grew to cherish and respect him deeply. We loved playing his favorites, Begin The Beguine, Dixie, and Gaither Gospel tunes for him. We are grateful and honored to be counted among his multitude of friends.

Lakey, Monkey and Jimbo,
Wow does that bring back very fond memories.
I'm so sorry that I'm not able to attend the memorial service for your dad. I will be on the road returning from a motorcycle trip to Las Vegas.
However, I want you all to know how much your father influenced my life. He was defiantly one of those individuals that you didn't want to disappoint. He was always interested in my career and made a point to acknowledge even the smallest success .
I still have in my desk draw a copy of a letter he wrote to Auburn University trying to get me an invite to their football program. That meant so much to me.
You were so fortunate to have him in your lives all these many years. We were all blessed.
I know your Mom and Dad are back together again listening to jazz and keeping and eye on us. God bless you all and may "Jimmy" rest in peace.
Bob

Our sympathies extend to the whole Butt family at the loss of your father/grandfather. We too mourn the loss of a friend and colleague. Jimmy has been a solid anchor for us during the significant years we were neighbors in St Joseph and worked together . He inspired goodness, enriched any project and helped with a task when asked. We have been privileged to know and work with Jimmy Butt.

In honor of Jimmy, Shirley Gillham lit a candle.
I will miss Jimmy, he was a dear friend. I miss him stopping by my table everyday in the Whitcomb dining room to ask how I was feeling. I would ask how he was feeling and he would always say "oh pretty good for a old man", and he would laugh.
He will be missed by everyone as he was loved by all who knew him.
What a Wonderful Southern Gentleman. I am so glad to have known him and could call him for advice when I needed his help.
Thank you my dear friend,Rest in Peace.

I wanted to express my sympathy to the members of Jimmy's family. I had the privilege of knowing him during the latter part of his many years of faithful service to ASAE as one of its outstanding leaders.
