Cheryl Hendrix, 70, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 27, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 609 Court St., St. Joseph with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Cheryl was born March 26, 1948 in Muskegon, MI to Thomas & Gay (Mohnke) Gaffney. She was the oldest of five siblings. She graduated from Orchard View High School in 1966 and then attended Muskegon Community College and graduated in 1968. The same year she married Clyde Crandall and raised two daughters with him. On October 5, 2002 she married William “Bill” Hendrix in Shelby, MI.
Cheryl started her career by working for the State of Michigan Unemployment office and then worked for Lakeland Hospital as a switchboard operator for many years. After retirement, she worked for the Trinity Lutheran Church after school program. She also volunteered over the years with their children’s programs and monthly community dinners. She donated blood regularly with Red Cross and later Michigan Blood for over 52 years. In the last year she volunteered at Berrien County Animal Control walking dogs.
Cheryl is survived by her husband Bill Hendrix; daughters Christine Crandall and Kimberly Hill; stepson Christopher Hendrix; granddaughters Kate Crandall and Sydney Hill; great-grandson Canyon Crandall; siblings Patrick (Marcia) Gaffney, Jeanne (Roger) Hiddema; Brian (Karma) Gaffney, and Kevin (Sarah) Gaffney; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents.
