To the entire Assell family, this was such a sad moment to hear about. I sincerely send all of my prayers and condolonces. Mrs. Assell, was the epitome of Godly, faithful, amazing, kind hearted women, I’ve ever been only blessed to have known. Her memory will always be carried in my heart, for all she has exemplified, and been. Thanks to the Lord, for the memories made, and the impact she had. Prayers of love and healing to you all.

Today, all those, near and far, must say good bye to Kathy...we are not ready. Just can’t make sense of it, she was the one who always lifted others up, put others first, she brought so much good to the world. Steve and I entered into the Vermont time of Kathy’s life, from that friendship she entered our hearts forever. We will miss you greatly until we share another glass of Port, and a bit of dark chocolate in heaven, Godspeed dear friend. With deepest sympathy to Larry, Dan, Bob, Pat, Carolyn, and family.

So sorry to hear of Kathy’s passing. Had lunch with her on Wednesday’s at the hospital. She always had great things to say about her family and was excited about her move back to Michigan. She was a very generous person.

It's been 30 years since we met Kathy, first our neighbor, then beloved friend. Though our time in each other's lives was only a few years, the memories we made have lived on and we speak of them often. Kathy had an amazing gift; she could light up a room with her smile! Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Larry, Dan, Bob, Patrick, and Carolyn. We know she has a special place in heaven. Love, Rob and Barb

I was so sad to learn of Kathy's death. I met Kathy at UVM Medical Center and always looked forward to the days that she would be volunteering. Kathy had such a genuine kindness about her and filled the space with joy. She was so proud of her family and spoke of them often. She gave so much to others and I am grateful for having known her, even in a small way. My sincerest condolences to her family, as I know you must be missing her terribly.

Mrs. Assell is fondly remembered by many of us at Lake Michigan Catholic Elementary School. She was gracious, and treated everyone she encountered at school - adults and children alike - with warmth and kindness.

Dear Larry and family, we were so saddened to read of Kathy's passing. She'll be remembered always for her smile, her laugh, and especially her kind, loving nature. Father Dan Jordan is now our Pastor and he prayed for her at Mass this morning and will be saying a Mass for her at 10:30 am on Sunday, February 25th, at our request. Please know that we and the IHM Prayer Chain are praying for all of you during this difficult time. May God be with you. Much love, Ed and LuAnn Koch

Larry, Some people have a profound, positive affect on our lives even when we know them for a relatively short time. Kathy was the type of person who enriched our lives whenever we were around her. Her loving personality brought smiles to faces, and the joy of friendship. Even though we are separated by time and space, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. God bless you all.

To all the Assells, we are deeply saddened by the loss your beloved Kathy, a beautiful wife, mother, and grandmother. To that list, we add... friend. It was an honor and a blessing to have her in our lives. We are better people for knowing her. She helped shape the lives and personalities of sweet and zany Lilly and Emma and they, along with Bob, Pat, Dan.and Carolyn, are her beautiful legacy. We regret that we will be out of the country or we would be there. Thinking of you at this sad time. Karin and Dave

I was very sadden to learn of Kathy's passing. I had the opportunity to work with Kathy on the Breakfast with Santa fundraiser for Joseph's house. Kathy was my best friend. We laughed together, cried together and prayed for each other’s children.
When I had knee surgery, Kathy made me a “smile sack” filled with hand made heart cut-outs and on each one she wrote a special memory of our almost 30 year friendship. I was to read one whenever I needed a “pick me up”. All those memories and more will forever be written on my heart. I Love you, Kathy. Nancy

Dear Lord you are with all due respect an Indian giver. You gave us Kathy, the most loving, giving, and kind person you could ever put on this earth and now you have called her back early to be with you in Heaven. We don’t blame you! Thank you for giving her to us! There will never be another Kathy!
