Robert J. Burkhard

Robert Burkhard, 38, of St. Joseph, died April 3, 2002, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. He was born May 11, 1963, in St. Joseph, Michigan. Bob graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1981. He served in the US Army from 1983 – 1992,and did one tour in Europe. He worked from 1992 – 1997 with NASA in both Virginia and West Virginia. In 1997/1998 he worked with the FBI in West Virginia. Since 1998 he was working as a Sr. Network Engineer/Project Manager for various companies. In addition, in 1999 he became the Pastor at Niles Avenue Baptist Church in St. Joseph, and in April 1999 he became an ordained Southern Baptist Minister. Visitation will be held from 10am-11am Friday, at Niles Avenue Baptist Church, 1301 Niles Avenue, St. Joseph, where Bob had been the Pastor for the last 3 years. Funeral Services will be held after visitation, beginning at 11am. Burial will be in the North Shore Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home. Robert is survived by his wife, Carole, whom he married March 27, 1993; two daughters — Heather and Jessica; two sons — Brian and Joshua; Grandmother –Josephine Naylor; Parents — Andrew and Gloria (Naylor) Burkhard; 4 Sisters — Lisa Bolyard, Laura Montey, Lucy Wright, Mary Bahr; 3 Brothers — Glenn Burkhard, Nick Burkhard, Frank Burkhard.
