Donald W. Schlipp, 84, of Stevensville, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Bronson Healthcare, Kalamazoo.
A celebration of life eternal will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville with Pastor Jeremy Koehler officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Don was born on July 31, 1934, to Karl and Nettie (Luft) Schlipp. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1953. Don received a Bachelors in Business from Western Michigan University. He was a United States Army Veteran. On November 6, 1982, he married Lana Weber-Dobberstein. Don worked at Whirlpool, owned D & J Village Shop in Eau Claire, served nearly fifteen years in the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department where he retired. Most recently he was the General Manager of Lakeshore Estates in Stevensville. Don formerly served on the Eau Claire School Board and the Stevensville Village Council. He was a musician and played in several polka & dance bands over the years, including; Four Leaf Clovers in high school, the Spitzer band and the Melodiers. Don played and taught the accordion. Most of all, Don who was known as Donnie, Don or Schlipper, cherished time spent and memories made with his family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife, Lana Schlipp; children, Cheryl (Kevin) Savage and Megan Hildebrand (Steve) Yeager; grandchildren, Greg (Allie) Savage, Brendan Savage, Julia & Seth Hildebrand, Samuel, Rachel, Jack, Faith & Caroline Yeager; great-grandson, Carter Savage; brothers, Delbert (Dee) Schlipp and Douglas Schlipp, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Nettie Schlipp; in-laws, Hod and Laura Weber and son-in-law, Mark Hildebrand.
