I was privileged to share a corner of Carol's life. She was my friend from the first day we met back 30 years ago at Southwestern Medical Clinic. Over the years, she was able to travel yearly with me and my husband to various locations in the Midwest and with a group of 10 to Spain with Dr. Schindler. When she traveled with us, she watched over my Mom who came from California every year to go on vacation. Carol made the sun shine on every event she attended. Even after she married Al, who is a sweetie, she still went on our trips while he deer hunted, or at least spent time in a cold cabin in the North. We laughed and cried together over the years. Every interaction was special. I cannot pick one out among the many. I will miss her. I have my memories and my pictures. As many have said, “She is in a better place” and we are left to wait for our time to be reunited with her.

Dearest Godmother,
There are so many tears right now as I cannot believe you are gone. Where do I begin? You have been with me for my entire life and it is one of my greatest blessings. Nothing I say can bring you back and only makes me miss you even more. I find myself thinking of all the things we shared and did, my wedding, your wedding, all such special times. When I called, you were there.
Our bond was so special.
Gonnerman, as my family calls her, was the greatest Godmother. I have a vault of wonderful memories and I will share this one with you. She loved to crochet and knit. In fact, when I was a child, she made me a beautiful blanket with Winnie the Pooh on it. Well, when I opened that present, what did that child say? Thank you? Nope! I said, "I want Snoopy". Oh my gosh, the look on her face and the laughter that came next I will never forget! If I had a quarter for every time we joked about that day through the years! That story never got old and we would laugh every time.
God bless Al and his family for loving her and making her one of their own. I hope you know how much that meant to us that she finally got her kids and grandkids to spoil after waiting almost her entire life for them. The Lord does provide in His time, not ours.
I will cherish every memory of her and I am counting on those memories to get me through the sorrow of her loss.
Please watch over me and all who loved you until we see you again.
I will forever love and miss you Gonnerman!!

Carol was such a special person who selflessly gave to so many persons. She was a precious friend of the Talbot family and was in many ways a second Mom to myself and my sisters. She was always genuinely interested in what was going on in the life of all the members of my family. Her marriage to Al Jewell provided to her the opportunity to play a special role to this precious family. She was so grateful for this opportunity the Lord had for her in that season of life and was always expressing gratitude for how she was embraced by the entire Jewell clan. She always expressed gratitude to God for this providential blessing and expressed gratitude to Al for the way he loved her so very, very well. The tears shed when I received the news of her passing are only consoled by the faith she had in the Lord and that the pain she had suffered (endured with such grace and dignity) has now ended. I can speak for my family that the impact of Carol's life will be felt for the rest of our lives. Prayers of comfort for Al and the rest of the Jewell family. I am so very, very grateful that you were able to walk with her over the past years, and particularly through the last few months.

I used to work with Carol at SWMC. She was one of the sweetest women I ever knew. I know she will be missed very much. May God bring His comfort to the family. Thinking of you all.
