I have not kept in touch with Charlie since leaving Michigan, but have fond memories of working with hiws team at the Whirlpool
Research Center. We all enjoyed the puns each week at staff meeting. We benefited from being challenged to be tigers as we sought to improve the llevel of computer knowledge with Whirlpool's engineers. Best wishes to June and the kids. God bless you all.

Dear June and family,
It is with great sadness, mixed with so many fond memories, that I remember the wonderful life of Charlie Rollinger. From our years together at Whirlpool to many years together working for the success of St Joseph Charter Township, Charlie never failed to bring his talents and yes, great humor, to every endeavor. His ideas were always well received and we laughed many hours away as we worked on the Township Board of Review. His and your friendship and support over the years will never be forgotten and while I now have been absent from the community for many years, I will always carry these fond memories of you both May peace abide in you forever.

1969 was significant year in US history and also in our lives with the Moon Landing, birth of our first child and the year we met the Rollingers. I (Lynn) was completing graduate school and looking for a job and Charlie was looking for a person with computer knowledge to add to his department at the Whirlpool Research Center. I was lucky to land that position which started our family relationship which has last this past half century. We both have had wandering paths during that time, but we have always managed to keep in touch. We used many "Super Book" dinners over the years to meet and catch up. These often ended up with a visit to one of their subdivisions. There is a spread sheet on Charlie's computer where he logged these. We also travelled together to see our sons play football for St Joe including the 1988 State Football playoff games. The past few years have involved health issues for both of us, necessitating us to move to Midland, MI. We have been able to visit them a couple of times a year and always met for lunch. On our last visit in May we visited them at the nursing home where we had the usual great conversations. He was a great leader, great businessman, great husband,, great father and great friend. We all will miss him.

June and family,
Our sincere condolences on the loss of Chuck. I always enjoyed our lively discussions regarding automation in the county. Berrien County was blessed to have Chuck and I was privileged to have worked with him. We are sorry for the loss we all feel.

I was a graduate student at Andrews University (Computer Science) and Chuck offered me the chance to do my final project (without pay of course) on the County Mainframe. I converted the County Clerk vital records system from a card-based one to online. Chuck got to know me and offered me a temp job to work in place of a pregnant employee. I accepted and from there became a full-time mainframe programmer and then, via department reconstruction, became head of the Help Desk area - a job that I really loved. I thank Chuck for all of his help and courage in welcoming me to his department. He was a great teacher, a forward thinker, and someone that I have always admired and always will. Thank you so much, Chuck. I think of you often and will consider to do so.
