I just adored Velma during my time at BHCC in 76 and 77. She was such a sweetheart. Always so classy but always helpful and cared about people. I had the pleasure to see her again at the club right before she retired. Unbelievably she recognized me even though it had been 25 years later. She is truly one of a kind.

Your mother was my teacher at Sterne Brunson in the early 50’s. One of my fond memories was when she was pregnant with her first child and your dad came to visit our class room in his military uniform. She was always one of my favorite teacher. You all have my deepest condolences. Cheryl Stewart

As longtime active members of Berrien Hills CC, we had the pleasure of knowing Vel.
We remember her as: Congenial; Competent; Understanding; Fair; Efficient; Friendly; Strong willed; Creative; and so much more !
Vel was known and respected for her expertise in handling the complexities of having many "bosses" of varying personalities and "egos".
A real, true treasure ! …….And now serving as a hostess and banquet manager for The Lord.

My condolences to the Shelley family. My grandmother used to tell me about your mom and family living near them on Broadway. Always enjoyed seeing Velma at school activities as I was growing up.

Our dear Velma. She was the most amazing person to possibly work with at Berrien Hills Country Club. How I enjoyed our lunches and visits in later years. You will be forever loved and missed

I will always remember Velma's twinkling eyes and wonderful smile. We lived in the same neighborhood for years and our "Children" went to school together. May God comfort your Family, such a great example of a woman:) Carol "Nahikian" McLarty

Liz,
Your mother was the best boss when when I worked out on the patio when you worked in the shack, and when Berrien Hills was a thriving country club. I've always had fond memories of her. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
