Herbert W. Antonowitsch, 68, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Friday, February 28, 2020 at Spectrum Heart Center in Grand Rapids. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 6:00 P.M. Friday, March 6, 2020 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Ruth Zwald officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Herb’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Those wishing to sign Herb’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Herb was born December 13, 1951 in Benton Harbor to Theodore & Gertraud (Wegner) Antonowitsch. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1970. Herb joined his Father Ted in the family business-Quality Builders, which he continued to operate, along with Scott Lake Campground in Bloomingdale, Michigan. In his free time, Herb enjoyed hunting & fishing, and spending time with his family and many friends, especially his grandchildren. Herb is survived by his mother Gertraud Antonowitsch of St. Joseph; two sons-Erik (Brandy) Antonowitsch of Coloma, David (Cara) Antonowitsch of St. Joseph; two grandchildren-Ava & Isla Antonowitsch; his long-time significant other-Janet Loomis; two sisters-Chris (W.G. “Bo”) Smith of Sarasota, FL, Angelika (Bill) Colpitts of Rolling Prairie, IN; his brother Paul (Kris) Antonowitsch of Kalamazoo; two nephews-Kurt Antonowitsch & Ryan Colpitts; and friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his father Ted.
