Mary Prewitt

Mary B. Prewitt, 74, of Covert, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Borgess Medical Center of Kalamazoo. She was born February 4, 1938 to William and Ossie (Burton) Edwards in Pontotoc, Mississippi. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church of Covert. She enjoyed cooking southern foods and was known for her biscuits and macaroni and cheese. Mary worked for many years at South Haven Rubber, Bohn Aluminum and Clarion where she retired. Mary will be remembered for her love, concern and openness for her children and others.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson – John Wayne Jones; former spouse – James Prewitt and brothers – James, Joseph, and Harold Edwards.
Mary is survived by her children – Johnny (Ada) Prewitt of Covert, Felecia (Marvin) Blanks of Kalamazoo, Denise (Michael) Goolsby of Gurnee, Illinois, Doretha Prewitt of South Haven, and Brenda (Lamarr) Lark of Green Oaks, Illinois; a brother – Eddie (Phyllis) Burton of Covert; 14 grand children and 23 great grand children, one great great grandson and her life long friend – Earline Baber. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A wake will be held Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 12 noon to 1:00 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastors Michael Goolsby and Lamarr Lark officiating.
