James Mitchell

James Edward Mitchell, 89, of Bangor died on October 4, 2012 at his home. He was born on December 6, 1922 in Columbus, Ohio to John and Vandella (Merchant) Mitchell. James worked for 37 years at Bohn Aluminum as a set up – lineman retiring in 1986. James owned and operated the Mitchell Patch of Blue blueberry farm. He was a member of Greater Faith Apostolic Church in Benton Harbor. James proudly served his country as a drill sergeant in the Army during World War II. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, building model airplanes and watching sports on television especially the Univ.of Michigan. James was an outstanding baseball and basketball player. He led his Bohn Aluminum teams to several city league championships. James also enjoyed swimming.

James was preceded in death by his parents. Brother – John Mitchell and one nephew - Roger Brown. One sister – Helen Fair.

He is survived by his wife – Grace Mitchell and his sons – Larry (Virginia) Mitchell and Craig (Tina) Mitchell of Bangor, MI. Four grandchildren – Meledi Rigozzi, Marcus and Kyle Mitchell, and Lena Zugger. Four great grandchildren – Mahra Rigozzi, Creela and Jaycee Mitchell and Eileah Zugger. One sister – Christine Meerstein of Chicago, IL, and one great nephew - Keith (Sophia) McCord of Huntington Beach, FL. Also surviving is Gene Gladney of Kalamazoo, MI and John Gladney of Bangor, MI whom he also helped raise.

Memorial service will be on Saturday, October 27, at 11:00 A.M. at Greater Faith Apostolic Church with Elder Joe Cunningham officiating. Burial will take place at Chamber Cemetery in Geneva Township. Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guest book at www.FilbrandtFFH.com.
