Ruth Poorman Eicas

Ruth Poorman Eicas, 91, of South Haven died at River Ridge Retirement Community on Friday, March 9, 2012. She was born December 14, 1920 to Earl and Myrtle (Benner) Wenban in South Haven, Michigan. Ruth worked for nearly 40 years at Nielsen’s Gift Shop in downtown South Haven. She was a member First Congregational Church UCC of South Haven. Ruth enjoyed writing poetry, playing golf and reading. She especially enjoyed her family who will all miss her.

She is preceded in death by her first husband – Leslie A. Poorman, her second husband – Anthony Eicas, a brother – Donald Wenban, a sister – Marian Wenban, and granddaughter – Carrie Sue Leins.

She is survived by her children – Jeffrey E. (Phyllis) Poorman of Lansing, Michigan. Leslee A. Leins of South Haven, Michigan, four grandchildren - Wendy (Joe) DenBesten, Michelle (Gerald Urquhart) Poorman, Martha (Karim) Abdullah, Jeffrey A. (Christine) Poorman, two step-grandchildren - Darren (Alicia) Leins , and Tara (Vince) Duncan. Ten great-grandchildren – Emma and Evan DenBesten, Willoughby and Benjamin Urquhart, Mathew and Mia Abdullah, Leah, Lucas and Grant Poorman and Zander Duncan. Her brother – Allen C. Wenban of Midland, Michigan also survives.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, March, 17 at 11:00 AM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Visitation will be prior to the services from 10 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church of South Haven.
