Sandra Lee "Sandi"'s Obituary
Sandra “Sandi” Popp, 58, of South Haven, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 30, 2011 at home with her family at her side. She was born September 9, 1953 in South Haven, to Alvin and Betty (Niffenegger) Greiffendorf. She had worked at Marty’s Apparel’s, Scholes Cleaners of South Haven. In 1976, Sandi married Dale Popp at the First Congregational Church of South Haven. She worked at Wal-Mart in South Haven for 15 years. She worked there from day-one of their opening.
Growing up she enjoyed the family gatherings with her parents, sister, grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins enjoying the trip’s to the U.P., Florida, and out east and west. She also enjoyed traveling on family vacations in Florida, on cruises, Mexico, and the Caribbean Islands. Sandi loved to be near any water, be it a pool, lake or ocean.
Her greatest joy came with the raising of her “sons”. She was always one of the helping-mom’s at events with school, cub scouts, baseball, soccer, wrestling, and many times at her church. She loved nature, flower gardens, small crafts and just being outside in the backyard. Sandi would want to be remembered with the saying, “Live Well – Laugh Often – Love Much”.
Sandi’s faith in the Lord brought her peace and acceptance during her cancer journey, with her husband Dale by her constant side. She decided early on with the diagnosis to “Living life with cancer instead of dying with it”.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Greiffendorf in 2001.
Sandi is survived by her husband – Dale Popp of South Haven, her two sons – Jason Popp of South Haven, Michigan, Jamie Popp of Paw Paw, Michigan; her mother Betty Greiffendorf of South Haven; her sister Penny (John) Dressel of Hudsonville, Michigan and a host of family and friends.
