My sister Sandi lived as she died, surrounded by family, upheld by her faith and loved by many. She was taken by the hand of her Lord and Savior, Jesus the Messiah after her husband read to her from 11/30/11 "Jesus Calling" devotional. "Remember that you are en route to heaven, and let your problems fade in the Light of Eternity." "But we are citizens of heaven, and it is from there that we expect a Deliver, the Lord Jesus the Messiah. He will change the bodies we have in this humble state and make them like His glorious body, using the power which enables Him to bring everything under His control." Philippians 3:20-21 Y.O.S.(Your only sister) Penny

I'm so saddened to hear about Sandy. We grew up in South Haven together, went to school together, and graduated from high school. I remember this petite person as the school hall monitor. May you rest in peace. You are in a better place with your big brother, Jesus Christ. Farewell...fondly, Betty (Holland) Hines SHHS Class of 1971

I well-remember Sandy Greiffendorf Popp from when we were in high school together. She was one class ahead of me and I remember her as being beautiful, kind and friendly. She had a quiet, gentle nature. Her older sister, Penny, is one of my sister, Susan Gaines-Gatto's closest friends to this day. Sandy came to my book-signing of a book I'd illustrated about a poodle at Decadent Dogs in South Haven summer of 2010 with her mother. I was very happy to see her and we reminisced about growing up in South Haven. She shared some news of her illness at that time. I found her to be very brave and spiritually-minded and told her that she would be kept in my prayers. She wrote me a sweet note after that. I am so thankful for that one encounter after so many years. May God have a special place for Sandy, and may her beautiful qualities be always remembered by her husband and two sons, her sister and her mother and all who know her. Very Sincerely, Anne Farley Gaines

My Dearest Family: My heart hurt for you today. I just want to hug all of you and never let go. May we always remember to care of others, animals and gardens just like Aunt Sandi did. To smile at others when they pass by and always make time for ice cream. For everyone who lives close to my Grandma. Please call her often and stop over when you can. Her best is in Heaven and she needs you. Sending my love from Philly. Jody

Dale and family, we don't know why our loved ones are taken from us, only God knows. God knew us before we were born and he also knew what we were to do in our life time here on this little blue planet. Love, is a powerful word and with that, we will never say good-bye to those we have loved. We'll carry on their legacy in our mines and in our hearts, till it is time for Jesus to call us home and be reunited with them all!

Sandi was a very brave woman who faced her disease with courage and grace. As many others have written, we knew each other from school, and those are the memories I'll cherish of her the most. I have no doubt that she is at peace and surrounded by the warm love of our Savior.
