Bernadine Gould

Bernadine Gould, 88, of Ganges, Michigan died at South Haven Health Systems on Saturday, October 8, 2011. She was born in Ganges Township on December 29, 1922 to Claude and Edith (Wilkinson) Wing.

Bernadine graduated from South Haven High School in 1939 and from Western Michigan University. She married Sheldon Gould on Dec. 18, 1942 in the family home in Ganges. Bernadine taught for two years at the Belknap School which was a one room school house. She then taught 1st grade at the Pullman Elementary School. She retired in 1984 after 18 years of teaching. Bernadine was also a member of Casco United Methodist Church. Bernadine enjoyed her family, reading, her flower garden and bird watching.

She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers – Stanley, Frank and Eugene Wing. One sister, Dorothy Wadsworth, also precedes her in death.

Bernadine is survived by her husband – Sheldon Gould of Ganges. Her children – Patrick (Nancy) Gould of Boyne City, MI., Kathleen (Larry) Yankee of Trenton, MI., Mike (Peggy) Gould of Fennville, MI., Peggy (Al) Marshall of Johannesburg, MI., Larry (Lindsey) Gould of Glenn, MI., and Karen (Wayne) Facca of Clarkson, MI. Eight grand children and seven great grand children also survive.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 5 to 8 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 1:00 PM at the Casco United Methodist Church with Pastor David Meister officiating. Burial will be at Casco United Methodist Church Memorial Garden.
