Rachael's Obituary
Rachael L. Sunday, of Mesa, AZ, and formerly a long-time South Haven, MI resident, died July 9, 2011. She was born July 23, 1916 in Bangor, MI, to Earl and Zora (Hogmire) Loveland. Rachael was an alumna of Bangor High School and Western Michigan University, where she obtained her teaching degree. She taught in several area schools, including Plainwell, Berrien Springs and Bangor, before settling in the South Haven school system until her retirement in 1980. Rachael was a member of the First Congregational Church of South Haven, Michigan Education Association (NEA Retired Program) and a Charter member of the American Association of University Women, South Haven, MI branch. She also thoroughly enjoyed for many years playing bridge with her various clubs.
She is preceded in death, along with her parents, by one son, Sheldon Sunday, who died in December, 2005, and a sister, Marjorie Church, who died in October, 2001.
Rachael is survived by one son, Scott (Anita) Sunday of Chandler, AZ; two grandchildren, Jared Sunday of Indianapolis, IN and Amy Galbraith of Chandler, AZ; one great-granddaughter, Ava Galbraith of Chandler, AZ (who Rachael took great delight in getting to know); and one sister, Betty Wood of Victoria, TX.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jeffery Dick officiating.
