LaVerne Bild

LaVerne Loretta (Roper) Bild, age 89, of South Haven, Michigan, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Holland Community Hospital in Holland, Michigan.

She was born October 5, 1921 in South Haven, Michigan to Fred and Hazel (Knudsen) Roper. She married Lawrence Adam Bild on May 8, 1947 at St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven. LaVerne worked in Quality Control at South Haven Rubber Company for 25 years. She loved to bowl, dance the polka with Larry, watch Dancing with The Stars, the Lawrence Welk Show, and shopping at Meijer, she also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, extended family and her dog, Sox. LaVerne also enjoyed her monthly luncheons with “the girls”.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence who died February 18, 2005, and one brother Fred Roper and her granddaughter – Stephanie Renee Lykins.

She is survived by her children; Mary Teresa Bild of South Haven, Michigan, Suzanne Eileen Bild Stacy of Key Largo, Florida, Lawrence Edward Bild of South Haven, Michigan, Kathleen Ann Bild of Holland, Michigan, Frederick Joseph Bild of South Haven, Michigan, Dorothy Irene Bild of South Haven, Michigan. Eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters – Marie Overhiser of South Haven, Michigan, and Mary Jacqueline Guminski of Escondido, California, and her sister-in-law - Mugette Roper of Florida also survives.

No services are scheduled since it was LaVerne’s desire to end her life quietly and without fanfare, very much in the manor in which she lived.
