Dickie's Obituary
Dickie R. Johnson, 92, of South Haven died Saturday, April 2nd at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
She was born June 25, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois to Edward and Jesse (Smith) Reese. Dickie married Wilbert L. Johnson on September 21, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. Dickie worked at South Haven Community Hospital doing the following duties; nurses aide at the Maternity Ward, nurses aide in the Emergency Room, Telephone Operator, and in the insurance office until her retirement. She was a member of Emmanuel Community Church of South Haven.
She is preceded in death along with her parents and her husband – Wilbert Johnson and sons – Wilbert Johnson Jr. in 1974 and Dale Johnson. Her brother –Russell Burford. Grandson – Eric L. Scott in 2001.
She is survived by her three daughters – Jeanine Scott of Bloomingdale, Michigan, Jacqueline (Robert) Bauer of Dundee, Michigan and Michelle McClellan of Ypsilanti, Michigan. 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. One niece and 2 nephews also survive.
Wake will be Friday, April 15 from 11 – 12 at the Emmanuel Community Church. Memorial services will begin Friday at the church with Pastor Maurice Harley, Minister Douglas Pompey and Pastor Dureya Gibson Officiating. Burial will take place at Chambers Cemetery.
