Mary Bennett

Mary Bennett, 83, of South Haven died on January 22, 2011 at home. She was born on January 18, 1928 to Steve and Tillie (Toporowski) Kozel in Chicago, Illinois. She married Charles “Art” Bennett on June 28, 1947 at Sacred Hart Catholic Church in Bangor. Mary worked for Everett Piano Company, Fishel’s Style Shop and Polly’s Clothing Shop. Mary was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church of South Haven. When not working or enjoying time with her family, Mary enjoyed spending time in her garden.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters – Millie Binder and Ann Pollock. Also by a brother, William Kozel.

She is survived by her husband – Art Bennett of South Haven, MI, one daughter – Carol (Barry) Nelson of Hartford, MI, and one son Robert (Kathy) Bennett of South Haven, MI. Five grandchildren – Cal, Matthew and Lauren Bennett. Kate and Chad (Julie) Nelson. Two great grand children – Simon and Sabrina. One brother – Victor Kozel of Bangor, MI., one sister – Helen Fellows of South Haven, MI. One sister-in-law – Marion Farrell of South Haven, Mi. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 28 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Burial will take place a Monks Cemetery in Geneva Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Basil Catholic Church, 513 Monroe Blvd., South Haven, Michigan 49090.
