Cameron and I are thinking of you Joshua and Blanch. Hoyt was like a family member to us and he will be missed terribly. You are in our prayers. Comforting words are hard to find at a time like this but we just want you to know we love you both and we loved Hoyt, too. So many memories. Hoyt touched my heart and my funny bone all at the same time. Love and prayers to your whole family.

Hoyt Higgs broke the mold. Many times he went up to the front line, and even crossed over to help many in need. Liking him, or social status was never a condition for being helped by him, or his supporting loving family. He always, sometimes fearlessly stepped in to help, where no one else would. He gave all he had when his mind was made up. Even now that he has toughed it out, and he has stepped out, not many will ever walk a mile in his shoes. He was, he is unique and will always be my friend. Thank you Higgs family. You have helped me very much these past five years. Stay close to all those who love, respect and support you. Your attributes will continue to abound. Your friend, Lucy Ann Loud

We feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to know Hoyt and to learn of his antics as friends of Bob & Suzette. We found early on, that if Hoyt was present, we would soon be wearing a smile and enjoying a ribbing of some sort. He was the type of individual that made you feel like family and we will certainly miss this special, fun loving man. To have known Hoyt is a gift that we will always cherish. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Higgs family, hold your memories close to your heart always.

Blanche, I do not know if you will remember me but we were neighbors in Drenth Mi. Our children went to the 2 room school house together. My husband was killed in Vietnam in 1968 and I remember your wonderful kindness to me at that time. I knew noone in the area and you were so gracious and brought us a meal. I wish to extend my sympathy to you in the loss of your husband...I know God will help you during this time of grief. Please give my sympathy to your family also. Jan Niles) Defeyter
