Maureen Joyce's Obituary

Maureen Joyce Warren, 75, of South Haven, Michigan died Tuesday, August 24 at her home.

She was born April 8, 1935 in Allegan, Michigan to Bernard and Bernadette ( Junglas) Flynn. Maureen graduated from Nazareth Academy High School with highest Honors, she then graduated from Nazareth College with a Bachelors in Education in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She married George “Buddy” Warren on July 14, 1965 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Maureen worked as an elementary school teacher and taught at various Catholic Schools throughout Michigan. She also taught for many years in Princeton, New Jersey and Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church. Maureen enjoyed playing and singing music, researching family genealogy. She also loved to travel and loved living on Lake Michigan. Maureen cherished her strong Irish heritage.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – George “Buddy” Warren who died in 2008. Her brother-in-law – Fred Hartfield also precedes her.

She is survived by her 9 siblings – Mary Hartfield of Bloomingdale, Michigan, Joseph (Janice) Flynn of Gobles, Michigan, James Flynn, Veronica Flynn and Jerry Flynn, all of Allegan, Michigan, Colleen (Robert) Taylor of Holland, Michigan. Michael (Sheryl) Flynn of Allegan, Michigan, Gabe (Joan) Flynn of South Haven, Michigan and Edward (Mary) Flynn of Allegan, Michigan. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be from 6-8 on Thursday, August 26 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with a scripture service beginning at 7:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger Officiating. Burial will take place at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery in Allegan, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids at 1806 Bridge St. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
