Eddie Arthur's Obituary
Eddie Arthur Hedlund, 87, of South Haven died Sunday, May 16 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born December 20, 1922 in Duluth, Minnesota to Arthur and Eliena (Malmo) Hedlund. Eddie graduated from Covert High School in 1941 and from University of Michigan in 1947. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as airplane mechanic during World War II. Once out of the service, he continued to work as an airplane mechanic. Eddie married Ruth Miller on January 19, 1951 in Hartford, Michigan. Eddie built many homes in the area from 1951 – 1970. Eddie was also a Real Estate Broker for 60 years retiring in 2008. Eddie was a very friendly, likable person and a great story teller.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his sister – Ethel Hedlund. Three brothers – Clifford, Lloyd, and George Hedlund.
He is survived by his wife – Ruth Hedlund of South Haven, Michigan. Five children – Valerie (Gary) Ridley of Bangor, Michigan, Vicki (Fred) Reeves of New Port Richey, Florida, Carolyn Hedlund of Grand Junction, Michigan, Arthur (Andrea) Hedlund of Rockford, Michigan and Nancy (Patrick) Connor of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Six grandchildren – Ryan and Jason Ridley, Carl and Kevin Dunham, Charlie and Samantha Connor. Four great grandchildren – A.J., Aaron, Aiden and Austin Ridley.
A family graveside service will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Lung Association. Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guest book at www.FilbrandtFFH.com.
