To the Chester Family: I do not know Joan, but my thoughts are with you in your time of loss. My mother also has COPD, and I'm struggling. I just want you to know I'm thinking of you, and may God be with you all. It sounds like she was close to her family, and I think it's very nice to leave your thoughts here. Bless you all...

As a grandmother you were there for my youth, as a friend, a counselor, and as an honest person you were never afraid to share your true opinion and tell me what was needed to hear whether I liked it or not. I've taken so many life values and lessons from yourself and grandpa. Two people I dearly love and appreciate having throughout my life. The distance makes this all seem so surreal, yet I know whom supported me and I'll never forget the words upon leaving and following phone calls while here. The thought of you being somewhere right now, knocking someone's block off, well is in true grandma fashion and helps me get through this time. I love you grandma. Love, Joey

I'm not even sure how to begin saying goodbye to you, my gramma. You have been there for me throughout the years through thick and thin, good times and bad. You were not only my grandma, but my best friend and it's not right that you had to leave us so soon. I loved all of our dinner dates, the shows we went to, the laughter (and crying) we shared. You are a big reason I've become the person I am today and I thank you so much for that. My life will never be the same without you. I love you more than words can say. All my love, Heather

Sorry for your loss. I've tried to e-mail MaryBeth but I still must have an old address. My sister, Linda, and I were just wondering how Aunt Joan was doing last week. Linda and I are still going thru our mom's photos, etc. Parents are always the hardest to loose.

Joan - and Bob - I have spent a full day trying to think of something to say. But, my heart and brain are too full of old memories to be coherent. You both shared your life, love, and home with me when I was young and foolish. Now, I am old and foolish but I still remember that time and cherish all that you did for me. Thank you and God bless you and be with you both. Love and prayers to you and yours. Dave & Diane

With a heavy heart I bid farewell to a very special person in my life. Your wit and straight forward approach will truly be missed. Thanks for all the talks we had, all the music we shared, but most of all for treating me like one of your own. Marybeth and I are forever grateful for everything you did for us. I will cherish every memory and forever grow an amazing garden BECAUSE OF YOU.

My deepest sympathy to Joan's family I enjoyed working with Joan at Palisades and considered her a good friend. I remember some of the great discussions the team had sitting around the lunch table. Joan could hold her own position on most any subject. You could tell how much she cared about her family. We all will miss her.

I'll never forget all the lessons you taught me and memories we shared. So much was learned during our many talks we had sitting around the kitchen table in the morning or in the office at night when we couldn't sleep. All that you have done for me will always be remembered and is greatly appreciated beyond words. You will truly be missed. Love, Amanda
