Pauline's Obituary

Pauline Baer, 103, of South Haven, Michigan died at River Ridge Retirement Community on January 2, 2010. Pauline was born on May 4, 1906 in Cedar Springs, Michigan to Thomas and Vera (Twitchel) VanSchelven. Pauline attended Grand Rapids Junior College and Western Michigan University where she received her BA in Education. She married Davis Baer on June 14, 1930 in Cedar Springs, Michigan. Pauline taught vocal music and social studies at Covert and South Haven Public Schools for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed family get-togethers and knitting. Pauline loved to play duplicate bridge with the Tuesday Group. Pauline was a member of the First Congregational Church UCC in South Haven.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Davis Baer who died May 3, 1974.

Pauline is survived by her daughters; Barbara (William) Bradley of South Haven, Michigan, Vera (Paul) Dougher of Gilbert, Arizona, Gretchen (James) Peard of Troy, Michigan and her son; Tom (Judy) Baer of Rockford, Michigan. Eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survives.

Memorial service will take place at the River Ridge Retirement Community on Friday, January 15 at 2:00 P.m. with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Burial will take place at Pilgrim Home Cemetery in Holland, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home or River Ridge Retirement Community.
