Elizabeth's Obituary
Elizabeth May Boardman, 91 of South Haven, Michigan died on August 29, 2009. Mrs. Boardman was born on December 23, 1917 in Bloomington, Indiana to Clarence E. and Frederica (Bonnie) May. Mrs. Boardman was a graduate of Indiana University in 1938, where her father taught organic chemistry to generations of Indiana physicians. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi social sorority and Mortar Board honorary. After WW II she and her late husband settled in Angola, Indiana where Mr. Boardman was an executive at Weatherhead.
In 1967 they moved to South Haven with the late Donna and Robert Putman and bought Wolverine Hardware. Elizabeth became active in community affairs, was a member of several bridge groups and she served on the board of directors of five organizations: Scott Club, American Association of University Women, South Haven Chamber of Commerce, Mobile Meals, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She has been a longtime member of Hope Reformed Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband - George R. Boardman, one brother - Charles E. May and her parents - Clarence E. and Frederica (Bonnie) May.
She is survived by her sister – Mrs. Max H Forster of Concord, California; her children – Bruce E. (Marilyn) Boardman of Geneseo, Illinois, Sally (David H.) Nancrede of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Sue Ellen (James) Bramer of Morrisville, Missouri; Grandchildren – Adam (Kristina) Boardman of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Molly (Phillip) O’Brien of Chicago, Illinois, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Hulsbrink of Geneseo, Illinois, Natalie (Micah) Bechard of Elkland, Missouri, and James Bramer, Joshua Bramer, Jonathan Bramer, Brendan Bramer and Shawn Bramer all of Morrisville, Missouri. Great-grandchildren – Kyle and Anna Boardman of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Niamh O’Brien of Chicago, Illinois, and Nathan and Miriam Bechard of Elkland, Missouri.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 3 from 11-1 at Hope Reformed Church with funeral service beginning at 1 PM with Pastor Curry Pikkaart officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana. Memorials may be made to Donor’s Choice.
