Doris M.'s Obituary
Doris M. Adkin, 87, of Hillsborough, North Carolina, formerly of Casco Township died Wednesday, February 4 at Carillon Assisted Living in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
She was born November 6, 1921 in Casco Township, Michigan to William and Edna (Trowbridge) Overhiser. Doris graduated from South Haven High Shool in 1938. Doris married Clare E. Adkin on January 31, 1942 at the East Casco Church. Doris was a farmers daughter, wife and devoted mother. She was a member of the Casco Ladies Aid, the Casco United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Clare E. Adkin who died in 1998. Her brothers– Albert, Kenneth and Edward Overhiser.
She is survived by her two sons – Clare (Sally) Adkin, Jr. of Durham, North Carolina and Lester (Wanda) Adkin of Cadillac, Michigan. Two daughters – Suzanne Asher of Greenville, South Carolina and Darla (Garry) Johnson of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. One sisters – Janet Brown of Spring Lake, Michigan and a brother – William (Barbara) Overhiser of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Memorial services will take place at the Casco United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 8 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor David Meister officiating.
