Edward's Obituary
Edward Bernard Pratt, 81, of South Haven died Friday, September 12 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born August 8, 1927 in South Haven, Michigan to Bernard and Beatrice (HayMacker) Pratt. Ed attended South Haven Public Schools. He served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II, then in the National Guard and retired as a Capt. Ed married carol Chambers on May 14, 1955. Ed worked for many downtown merchants early in his career. Ed delivered milk for Sherman Dairy from 1955 – 1976. Ed then sold GM Vehicles from several local dealership retiring in 1995 from Seelye Wright. In retirement, Ed reenlisted in service as a Chief Ships keeper for the Friends Goodwill Ship. Ed and his Gibson will be missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his sister – Clara Crosby.
He is survived by his wife – Carol Pratt of South Haven, Michigan. One son – Steve (Sheri) Pratt. 3 daughters – Cindy Pratt, Cheryl (Rick) Tromotola and Carla Pratt all of South Haven, Michigan. 2 grandchildren – Carry Ann Daub and Melanie Tromotola and many loving step-grandchildren. 2 sisters – Dorothy Hiatt and Marie Henry. One brother – Robert Henry.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 16 from 9 – 10 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Memorial services will begin Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Linstrom officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Michigan Maritime Museum.
