ERMA WAS A WONDERFUL PERSON. NOT ONLY WAS SHE OUR NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR, BUT SHE WAS LIKE A 2ND MOM TO US. WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE DAILY BACK YARD VISITS (WEATHER PERMITTING).SHE WOULD ALWAYS COME OUT TO SEE WHAT WE WERE INTO FOR THE DAY. DESPERADO WILL MISS HER GIVING HIM STRING CHEESE AT HER BACK DOOR. HE WOULD SIT AND WAIT FOR HER. WE WILL MISS HER DEARLY.

Erma was a great lady. I worked with her at Fisher's Big Wheel. I will never forget her bringing us girls in the office a Christmas cassette & asking us to play it - which we did - but she would call out over the intercom "PLAY THE CHIPMUNK SONG" Just hysterical! She will be missed.

Tom remembers Erma from years past when her and Ella still lived at the end of our road (6th ave). Once a house was burning on the otherside of the expressway and Tom panicked thinking it was Erma and Ella's. I can't imagine how lonely her poor dogs must be without her. I'm sure she meant as much to them as they did to her. Erma was truly one of the kindest, hard working women I've ever known. So sorry for your lose.

We, who were Erma's friends, neighbors and co-workers remember her fondly. She was a woman of many skills and talents which she would modestly let shine through occasionally. Her love of the outdoors, gardening, birds, butterflies and flowers. Her enjoyment of music, dance and ice skating grace. Maybe some of our potlucks were plotted just to see what great gourmet dessert she would produce to share with us. Her salesmanship ability surprised us when she helped raise money for Relay for Life. She was unselfish in her efforts on behalf of cancer research even tho she was untouched by it but had affected her beloved dog Twinkle who was her faithful companion for 17 years. Erma had wit and humor. Tho she did not approach anyone to be her friend, seeming to expect rejection, as she came to know and trust us we became family to her. Erma was human, we're sure she must had had some faults but we can't think what they were right now. We found that what seemed aloofness was just a shell formed to protect a tender heart. These sentiments are expressed by those who loved and respected Erma. Erma's greatest affinity was with animals, mainly dogs and especially Chihuahuas. Her most cherished and loyal companion for the past seven years has been "Sassy". She can rest in peace knowing her dear pet will be loved and cared for by friends. She had expressed her concern and her wishes deserve to be honored.

Erma was my cousin. I remember growing up how much fun she was and always so nice to my sister and me. After we moved to Kalamazoo, she and her mother (my Aunt Esther) visited us and we had wonderful times. Erma was very talented with her plant and refinishing skills. She will be missed.

We have lost a truly remarkable person. Erma was a strong, independent woman with a sweet soft side, especially with her pets. Twinkle was one of her first dogs, and every birthday of Twinkles was celebrated by Erma bringing us (at South Haven Animal Hospital) a box of Twinkies! I will always remember her kindness in delivering food for the staff to eat. She took good care of us, and we will always consider her part of our family. She will be missed. Pat Salamun

Irma was a great lady we loved her dearly and she will be greatly missed. If she would see us out in the yard she would come out to visit as we would do if we see her out. We had some wonerful talks. Every day she would walk sassy around our garden, and visit.
