It is really sad to learn of his passing. George Mescher was a good man, a smart man. Many things he predicted came true. He was one of my father figures in the 1960's and certainly an influence in my life as he must have been in many others. He was one of the great of the greatest generation. When a difficult or impossible task came up, to him it was nothing more than something that had to be done and he would say "Let George do it". He will always be remembered by many.

Mr. Mescher was a wonderful man. I graduated with his son Phil in 1968. George was a great Sunday School teacher. Back then, the boys and girls were split up, and he taught the boys. He will be missed by all that knew him. Condolences to the family.

George Mescher was a great and fun person to be around. Whenever us Methodist Men had a roof raising on a Habitat house, we would elected George to be our foreman and had a lot of fun as we worked under his supervision. When I ran the sound system during the 11 o'clock Sunday church services, I could count on George to see if the volume was to low. From the balcony where the sound board is at, I'd look down at George as he sat in his pew. If he started nodding off to sleep, I would increase the volume output. Just remember,George's body has died, but not his spirit! His memory still is alive within all our hearts and mines, which is a wonderful feeling that makes him still alive! jb

Mary, Matt, Ben and families: Your Dad was a special and dear man. There are many memories from high school as he was always there to support us in our basketball, volleyball and softball games. In my adult years when I would see him at the bowling alley, where he played bridge, he would have a serious look on his face until I greeted him. He then smiled gently and with a twinkle in his eye, we would carry on a short conservation. You were blessed with so many years with him! Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Diane & Barry

I am sorry to hear of George’s passing. I met him during his 90th year! I was blessed by his kindness and wisdom. I have fond memories of the summer of 2002 when he was a part of the “ole guys construction company” who made the Overlook at the end of Van Buren Street a reality. My condolences to all.
