Gary Edward's Obituary
Gary Edward Schlipp, 55, of South Haven died Thursday, January 10 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born January 26, 1952 in South Haven, Michigan to Leonard I. and Delores (Albrecht) Schlipp. Gary graduated from South Haven’s L.C. Mohr High School in 1970. He was active in sports and worked at the Ford Garage on co-op while in high school. Gary attended Lake Michigan College and Southwestern College. Gary was employed at Bohn Aluminum for 21 years and was the Foundry Rep. and Union Steward for several years. Presently, he has been working at Do-it Corporation as a machine operator. Gary holds a 4th degree Black Belt in Ti Quean Do Karate. Gary loved the outdoors, hunting bow & arrow and fishing. Gary also enjoyed music and played drums in a band at weddings and parties.
He is preceded in death by his father – Leonard I. Schlipp who died in 1997.
He is survived by one son – Joshua Schlipp and one daughter – Stashia (Mike) Wright both of Atlanta, Georgia. One granddaughter – Nova Wright. Mother – Delores L. Schlipp of South Haven, Michigan. Two brothers – Leonard (Barbara) Schlipp of Zeeland, Michigan and Ward (Kristi) Schlipp of Sherman, Texas. Two sisters – Vickii (Don) Nichols of South Haven, Michigan and Laurie (Joe Perry) Schlipp of Bangor, Michigan. 12 nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 13 from 7 – 9 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Linstrom officiating. Burial will take place at Northshore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores. Memorial contributions can be made to Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church.
