John's Obituary
John Arends, 66, of South Haven died Wednesday, December 12 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born October 15, 1941 in Conklin, Michigan to Charles and Edith (Brown) Arends. John served his country in the U. S. Navy during Vietnam. He married Barb Steele on January 27, 1977. John worked as a Michigan State Trooper for 23 years retiring in 1992. John enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and his family and friends.
He is preceded in death along with his parents, Charles & Edith Arends and James Bodfish.
He is survived by his wife – Barb Arends. Children – Marsha (Will) Lewis, Greg (Cindy) Bodfish and Michele Bodfish. Grandchildren – Gregory Bodfish, Dustin Bodfish and Perry Bodfish. Siblings – Frank (Joyce) Arends, Rose Knauf, Herm (Sherry) Arends, Albert (Lois) Arends, (Albin) Cecelia Lothschultz, (James) Sue Dietrich, Cathy (Mike) Flierman, Charles (Pat) Arends and Irene Bosman also survive.
Visitation will be Friday, December 14 from 5 – 7 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home and Saturday from 10 - 11. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Burial will take place at McDowell Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the South Haven Rod and Gun Club or the First Responders in Glenn.
