Dear Barb and Family: I'm so terribly sorry for your loss, John was just a super person and it is a great privilege to have been able to call him my friend. We will all miss that smile and "aw shucks" grin he had, God Bless. DAVE

I had just talked to John 3 weeks ago at Chuck Hurn's visitation and found John had been treated for cancer. He was a very good friend, and pleasure to work with in the 70's and 80's when he was a Trooper and I was a SH Officer. He was friendly to all. He will be missed. Rest In Peace Trooper Arends.

My condolences to the family and friends of John. We were in the MSP recruit school together way back in 1969. Haven't seen him in all of the years since, but I remember John as being one of the guys who I would have enjoyed having as a partner.

Barb, very sorry for your loss. I'm proud to say that I worked with John at MSP 55. I can say there wasn't anyone that was more professional, or as friendly as he. I'm sure he will be missed by many.

I got the pleasure of meeting Tpr. Arends when I worked at the courthouse many years ago. Your right Charlie in the 80's. Those were the good old days. I see all of John's co-workers writing in. He was a pleasure to to be around. He served his state well. My deepest sympathy to his family. Sabine Barthel Callaghan (Beaner-court nickname from tprs, vbcsd, shpd)
