Lawrence Thomas Phillips, 56 of South Haven, Michigan died suddenly of a heart attack in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Saturday, September 2, 2007.
Larry was born on March 22, 1951 in Redford, Michigan to Thomas and Florence (Bednar) Phillips. Larry graduated from Michigan State University in 1972 with his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Larry was employed with Basell Chemical Company of Lake Charles, Louisiana where the family was relocating. Larry married Lucy Dabbert in December 1987 in Jackson, Michigan.
Larry is survived by his wife: Lucy Phillips of South Haven, Michigan. His children: Kristi (Steven) Kozub of Fennville, Michigan, Eric (Courtney) Phillips of Holland, Michigan, Scott (fiancée’ Missy) Phillips of Chicago, Illinois, Shannon Phillips and Stephanie Phillips of South Haven, Michigan, Timothy (Kate) Brown of Seattle, Washington and Brian (Nancy) Brown of Chandler, Arizona. Seven grandchildren: Will, Jack, Katie, Emily, Mattie, Clare and Abbigale. Mother: Florence Phillips of Redford, Michigan. Mother and Father In-law: John and Evelyn Dabbert of Parma, Michigan. Four brothers: Frank (Janie) Phillips of Redford, Michigan, Dave Phillips of Saline, Michigan, Thomas (Sue) Phillips of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dennis Phillips of Redford, Michigan, Three sister-in-laws: Janalee (Gary) Veselica of Clark Lake, Michigan, Terry (Steve) Christian of Jackson, Michigan and LeeAnne (Charley) Janssen of Lansing, Michigan. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Friday, September 7 from 4 - 7 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 8, at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Linstrom officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the family for an educational trust fund for Stephanie and Shannon.
