Frances Lillian Crawford

Frances L. Crawford, 80, of Covert died Wednesday, April 18 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

She was born July 18, 1925 in Florence, Alabama to Jimmie Ottis and Susie (Terry) Smith. Frances married Elgin Crawford on March 19, 1951 in Marked Tree, Arkansas. She worked for Sheperd Castings in St. Joseph for 20 years retiring in 1976. Frances enjoyed life and being with her family. She loved going to garage sales and liked gardening, especially caring for her flowers.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Elgin Crawford who died in 2001. Four sons – Jimmie Davis Young, Jerry Wayne Crawford, Raymond Ray Crawford and Jeffrey Crawford. Two brothers – Cellon Smith and James Smith. A sister – Dolla May Smith also precedes her.

She is survived by three sons – Larry (Betsy Daily) Crawford, and Randy (Gloria Dortan) Crawford both of Watervliet, Michigan and Ernest Crawford of Covert, Michigan. One daughter – Patsy (William) Stamps of Watervliet, Michigan. 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Five brothers – Arthur Lee Smith, Selmer (Geneva) Smith, and Delmar (Lucille) Smith all of Florence, Alabama, Roland (Robbie) Smith, and Ray (Louise) Smith both of Tyronza, Arkansas and Ottis (Hilda) Smith Jr. of Oscela, Indiana. Two sisters – Helen (Paul) Tiary of Tuscombia, Alabama and Beadie May (Jimmie) Kelly of Oakland, Alabama.

Visitation will be Friday, April 21 from 6 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
