James's Obituary

James B. Mitchell, 89, of South Haven went home to be with the Lord on April 16 at home.  He was born on November 28, 1923 to Paul and Mabel (Burrows) Mitchell in Covert, MI. He graduated in 1943 from Covert High School.  Jim served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He is a member of the LST Association.  Jim married Christine Patti on June 21, 1947.  They were married for 65 years.   Jim along with his brother, Leo were the owners of Mitchell Brothers Mobile Home Parks since 1962.  Jim drove school bus for South Haven Public Schools from 1957-1974.  He was a member of Maple Grove Bible Church. Jim enjoyed playing the harmonica.

Jim is preceded in death by his daughter – Patti Mitchell, his parents and his brothers – Leo Mitchell and Dwight Mitchell.

He is survived by his children – Bill (Suzanne) Mitchell of Gatesville, NC, John (Roberta) Mitchell of South Haven, MI, Judy (Tom) Gardner of Bangor, MI, Barbara (Jim) Hensley of Scottsburg, IN and Tom (Trudy) Miller of St Joseph, MI.  14 grand children, 17 great grand children.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 21 from 3-6 pm at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday April 22, at 11:00 am at Anchor Baptist Church with Pastor Theron Crawford officiating.  Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution could do so to the church or Hospice at Home of South Haven.
