Lois Jean Bailey

Lois J. Bailey, 89, of South Haven, died on May 25, at South Haven Nursing and Rehabiltation Community.  She was born March 6, 1924 in Highland Park, MI to Edward and Beatrice (Mitchel) Soergel. Lois graduated from South Haven High School in 1941.  She married Albert “Bud” Bailey on January 6, 1945.  Lois worked as a teacher’s aid for over 25 years for the Intermediated School District. Lois was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven.  Lois sang in the church choir for over 70 years.  She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines and Eastern Star.  She was a leader for Bluebirds and Campfire Girls for many years. 

She is preceded in death by her huband, Bud Bailey, daughter, Susan Bailey and sister, BarbaraTrezise.

Lois is survived by her children – John Bailey of East Jordan, MI (Elizabeth), Sharon Bailey of South Haven, MI and Marie Bailey of Chicago, IL.  Grandchildren -  Sandy Dean (Mike) Scott Hewitt (Kim), Jeb Bailey and Jake Bailey.  Great grandchildren – McKenna and Samantha Hewitt and Kirsten Dean. Brother – Edward Soergel of Okemos, MI.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 1, from 10 to 11:00 AM at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Memorial services will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dean Beckwith officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church.
