Lois Bailey and the Bailey family were an important part of my life growing up in South Haven, especially at First English Lutheran Church. My memories of Lois singing in church choir still enrich me when I think of her and her beautiful voice. And for 70 years! That is awesome. And her personality was as beautiful as her voice. Plus she made the worldβs best magic cookies! And I remember her driving our high school quartet to Flint in the middle of a snow storm. The whole Bailey family was so dependableβJohn, Susan, Sharon, and Marie. Those were great days. Sunday after Sunday the choir would line up at the back of the church with Roger Dehn, Bud Bailey would ring the church bell, and my dad would start the opening hymn. I cherish those memories and extend my sympathy to the Bailey family on the passing of this lovely woman.

Our thoughts, prayers and love are with all of you at this sad time. We know that you will miss your mom, but also know that she is with your dad and Susan. We will cherish all the wonderful memories of all of you up at Big Bear Lake, which are too numerous to write about. I personally will always cherish the painting that she did for our cabin. With much love......

I know this has been a long journey for your mother, but her struggles are finally over. While I know you grieve her going, I also recognize that you rejoice in her freedom at last. The end here is only the beginning . . . and the glory she is experiencing now is immeasurable. (Romans 8:18 "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.")
I send you prayers and support from Texas. You are not alone.

Lois and Bud will always be symbols of First English. May you rejoice that your Mom is reunited with your Dad and Jesus. And I know all of her students at Arlington School are jumping with joy (especially Pete)!
