Leona Doris Davy

Leona Doris Davy, 88, of South Haven, died Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born January 6, 1925 to Raymond and Tillie (Dykstra) McFall in Holland, Michigan. Leona was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She was the super glue that held the family together. She was a great friend and confidant to all who knew her. With her sense of humor and wit, she could brighten any situation. She devoted her life to serving God and others and was a long time member of the First Church of God, where she served as song leader for many years. Leona will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her daughter – Deborah Knapp and two brothers – Robert and Ted McFall.

Leona is survived by her children – Terry (Janice) Davy of Lima, Ohio, Connie Davy of Hollywood, Florida, Cathy Valkner-Zurek of South Haven, Cindy (Rob) Faulk of Portage,  Vicki Davy of South Haven, and Lori(Trace) Jorgensen of Magnolia, Texas; Four sisters – Thelma Bolles, Maxine (Roger) Meeusen, Norma VanOss (Juke), and Edna (Bob) DeJonge all of Holland, Michigan. 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Starks officiating. Leona will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Leona’s memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
