Hilda Totzke

Hilda M. Totzke, 90, of Casco Township passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Golden Orchards Assisted Living Home in Fennville.  She was born on March 16, 1923 to Eunice (Leisure) and Wilsie Osman in Allegan County's Lee Township.  Hilda attended the Iddles School in Casco.  Hilda was a 1940 graduate of South Haven High School.  She continued her education at Western Michigan Univ. where she earned her bachelor's degree in 1944 and her master's degree in 1972.  She was a member of the WMU Alumni Association.   Hilda married Henry Totzke on August 23, 1947.  Hilda taught schools for many years in the Grand Ledge and Bangor Public Schools.  She was a member of the National and Michigan Educational Associations.  Hilda was a member of the Casco United Methodist Church where she was active in many activities.  Hilda was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge of East Casco and the Radiant Rebekah Lodge.  At one time Hilda was a 4-H program leader in Allegan County. 

Hilda is preceded in death by her husband - Henry Totzke who died in 1999.  Also by brothers - Lauren (Mabel) and Earl (Thelma) Osman and a sister - Dorothy (Martin) Evans.

She is survived by her daughter - Gail (Mark) Getman of South Haven.  Two grand daughters - Kelly (Brian) Dissette and Betsy (David) Fleming.  Three great grand children - Carson and Calvin Dissette and James Fleming.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 20, from 5 to 8 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 21, at 11:00 AM at the Casco United Methodist Church with Pastors  David Meister, George Fleming and Mike Tupper officiating.  Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution can do so to the church or to Holland Hospice.  Hilda will be laid to rest in McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township.
