Mrs. Totzke was my PE teacher back in the 50's! I have always remembered her with fondness (even though I didn't like PE very much). I know how hard it is to say "Good-by". My mom, May Hayes, also died at age 90 six years ago and I still miss her very much as I'm sure you will miss your mom & grandma. Be comforted in your happy memories of your life with her.

To the Totzke family,
I'm sorry to hear about your mom-grandma. You're blessed that you had her in your life for so many years. She was my PE teacher from elem-8th grade. I thought of her as one of my favorite teachers. She was tough and ran a tight class. No crap in her classes, things were fair and organized, but she was also someone that would put her arm around you and encourage you when you needed it. Top notch teacher and person. May you find peace in the kind words, thoughts and memories of beloved mother during this time of sadness.

I will never forget Mrs. Totzke. She was my gym teacher at Bangor Middle School and High school back in the early 70's. When I approached her about a Girl's Basketball Team she encouraged me to start a petition, presented it to the school board, was approved, and she coached our first team. What an amazing and wonderful woman! May God be with you during your time of grieving.

To Gail, Mark and family,
Hilda was one of few professional women role models at one time. Her impact was far-reaching. Sincere wishes for strength now and hope for you to remember good times in the future.

To the entire Totzke family,
I am sure I won't be the only one telling you what a wonderful mom, etc. that you had. She was my physical education teacher at Bangor for many years, and what I remember most is the harsh way she talked to all of us, making us do sit ups, it got us all to do them tho'. I hold you in my prayers in the upcoming days.

Gail I am sure you do not remember me but I am a graduate of 1969. Although many will tell you how firm your mother was as our PE Teacher at Bangor....she was one of my most favorite teachers and later a very good friend. She had a lot of compassion for those of us who were lest fortunate.
I will also hold her dear to my heart. May god bless you and keep you and your family through this time of lose.

To the Totzke Family,
As a student and cheerleader from '64-'68, I have many great memories of your Mom. What a strong, professional woman she was. Quite a role model for all of us girls growing up in the 60's. She was firm but always fair. She touched the lives of many of us and will be fondly remembered. I send my deepest sympathy and prayers to all of you.

It was such a true JOY and PRIVILEGE to get to know and care for Hilda the past several months. She always had a way to bring smiles to our faces and told some of the cutest stories. She also had a wonderful family who I enjoyed getting to know as well. It was truly remarkable how y'all would go spend time with your mom/grandma everyday........she was a very lucky lady and so was I for being able to know her! Thoughts and prayers are with you all!
Sincerely,
Kristi

I remember Mrs Totzke very well. She taught my very favorite class, PE. She always had time to listen, not just hear what we said. I spent a lot of time in her office, just because. I remember so many things that happened in her classes. She was a wonderful teacher & person. May God be with you in the coming days.

Mrs. Totzke was one of my favorite teachers. Ever. She was 'tough', but had a heart of deep compassion for her students. She expected excellence, and set the bar high. I loved the standards she set for the cheerleaders - challenging us to be true leaders in many ways. I appreciated her personal wise and compassionate counsel to me when I was going through a tough time my senior year. I only wish I had been able to express my thanks to her. May God bless the family in your time of great loss.

Dear Gail & family,
My deepest sympathy to you all in the loss of your dear Mother/Grandmother. Hilda was my PE teacher and Cheerleading coach during junior high and high school in the late 60s and early 70s. She will fondly be remembered. She demanded respect, but was our friend as well. Not only did she teach us about the importance of physical activity, but she taught us about good moral character. What a fine role model she was for many young women. She will be missed. May God bless you all and fill you with His peace and strength in the days ahead. May good memories of times spent with her give you comfort.
With deepest sympathy, Pat Distefano Henry

Mrs. Totzke was my gym teacher and cheerleading coach in junior high. She was the first strong woman role model I ever met. She taught me that women had limitless possibilities and she inspired me to be my best. In those red, metal snap, one piece, cuffed short uniforms I followed her every lead (smile). What a remarkable woman she was. I will never forget her and the life lessons that she taught me.
To the family I would like to thank you for sharing such an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grand mother with me. I am forever grateful.
God Bless
