Janice Aletha Girard

Janice Girard, 79, of South Haven, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at her home under Hospice care. She was born November 18, 1933 to Doug and Agatha (Beckwith) Kiry in Gary, IN. Janice enjoyed crafting which included crocheting, knitting, and sewing. Janice loved to care for children and did In Home Day Care for over forty years.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband of fifty years, George Girard, daughter – Deborah Burrows, son – Thomas Hugh Burrows, and Baby Boy Girard and Baby Janet Leigh Girard, great-granddaughter Skylar Young, and sister – Shirley White, and most cherished and special friend – Joyce Pulliam.

Janice is survived by her children – Doug (Amanda) Burrows of South Haven, Beth Ann (Bou) Nou of Fennville, Jackie Adams of Kalamazoo and Steve Girard of South Haven; brother – Paul (Karen) Kiry of South Haven; Ten grandchildren – Sarah Young, Brian Burrows, Joshua Burrows, Bobbie Mannion, Jennifer Wright, Jessica Aldrich, Rachel Crawford, Dillon Adams, Hayley Girard, and Stevie Girard; six great-grandchildren – Alexa Young, Madison Burrows, Sophia Burrows, Harper Burrows, Olivia Aldrich, and Spencer Mannion. She also leaves behind the many children whose lives she touched through her care and their mothers who were not just clients, but friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven followed by a celebration of her life at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Theron Crawford officiating. Contributions may be made in Janice’s memory to South Haven’s Hospice at Home or the American Cancer Society. Janice will be laid to rest next to her husband at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
