James "Jim"'s Obituary

James E. “Jim” Novotny, 76, of South Haven, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at South Haven Health Systems. He was born October 4, 1937 to Stanley and Mildred (Nevenzel) Novotny in Allegan. Jim worked at LS Mold in Holland for 30 plus years and then Standard Tool & Die in Stevensville for seven years until his retirement in 1999. Jim served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion. Jim loved to spend time with his grandchildren and going out for coffee at McDonalds with his friends.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by three brothers – Robert, William and George Novotny.

Jim is survived by his wife of fifty years – Jean (Burrows) Novotny; daughter – Deb (Ralf) Joachim of Baroda, Michigan; two grand children – Taylor and Bailey Joachim; two sisters – Beatrice (Richard) Bazon and Sandra Novotny both of Allegan.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 with Rev. Devon Herrell officiating at the funeral home. Jim will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the American Legion Post #49 or the American Heart Association.
