Ruby's Obituary
Ruby Madalyn French, 83, of South Haven, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at her home. She was born July 20, 1930 to Ward and Iva (Tyler) Lockwood in South Haven. Ruby was a 1949 graduate of Bloomingdale High School. She married her husband of 42 years, Cornelius “Bill” French, on September 9, 1949 at the Lacota United Methodist Church. Ruby worked at the Hales Department Store for 25 years. She was a member of the Lacota United Methodist Church and was the longest standing member of the church. Ruby enjoyed knitting, sewing and many other crafts.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Cornelius “Bill” French who passed September, 1991; brother – Warren Lockwood; sister – Naomi Pahl; grandson – Samuel Gray.
Ruby is survived by her son – Barry (Kathy) French of South Haven; three daughters – Carolyn (John) Marr of South Haven, Deborah (Chuck) Nook of Ft. Collins, CO and Nancy (John) Jones of Muskegon. Ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Lacota United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow visitation at the church with Pastor Michael Pinto officiating. Ruby will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Ruby’s memory to the Lacota United Methodist Church, 1160 CR 681, Lacota, Michigan 49063.
