Our prayers and thoughts go with you all during this time of loss. Ruby has been a fixture at the Lacota church for as long as I can remember. She always jumped up to read scriptures when someone wasn't there. She will be missed every Sunday in that back row.

I could stop by when ever I wanted at Rubys for help with my knitting. During my visit she would catch me up with family news and words of wisdom. She was so very proud of her family. Carolyn and all of Rubys family I am so sorry for your loss. Especially this time of year.

My friendship with Ruby will truly be missed. I so enjoyed every chance I got to knit with her. She was always interested in what I was knitting, how my family was doing and of course I would always hear of her girls and grandkids.

Barry, Debbie, and Carolyn----we are so very sorry about the loss of your mother and of our good friend Ruby. She was one of the founding members of our knitting/crochet group at the Senior Center in South Haven, and was an active member of the group until her death. She will be missed by many who have known her within our group, and as a friend and knitting expert in our community, with years of experience which she was always willing to share. The Village View neighbors will also miss seeing her outside in nice weather tending her flowers, or sitting in her chair working her crossword puzzles as she watched the world go by. Also her doing daily Devotions with good friend Joan.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of her family, her church family and friends.

When I lived with my Aunt/Uncle prior to 1949, Bill and Ruby would often stop and pick me up for Sunday Night Church Service In Lacota. It was one of my earlier introductions to Jesus Christ and still remember how touching that was. Knowing where Ruby is spending eternity is a GREAT comfort and I look forward to seeing her again. Barry & family:
Wish I could stop in on Saturday to pay my final respects to your Mom. We will be out of town, but know that I am thinking of you and one of your greatest losses.
Your Mom.....such a lady! Always a smile, always willing to help my Mom and I with whatever knitting project we had going! She mentored quite a few generations in this town. All you had to do was stop in at Hale's and she was right there to answer and assist.
She will be greatly missed. May you find comfort in knowing that she is just beginning her life in a much better place.

Carolyn, Barry, Deb, and the rest of the family,
So sorry for your loss. Ruby was a wonderful lady, she was always so kind and friendly. I first met your family when we were kids, going to Sunday School in Lacota. I always enjoyed those times. Over the last several years, Ruby would stop at our fruit stand and visit, and talk about the church and her family. She will be missed by all who knew her. God Bless you all.

Ruby lived across from me for a year. Such a dear lady. She would wave to me as I went round round the circle on my bike..she said she wanted one but the kids might not approve..we talked about safety and exercise and she agreed that she would wait for that request!

To all of Ruby's Family,
It has been our pleasure to know Ruby all these years. She was Butch's first Sunday school teacher and he had such a crush on her that he named his stuffed monkey Ruby. She sponsored me for the Emmaus Walk which I never forgot. We will miss seeing that smile and the hug we always received. Our condolences to all of you.

I did not know Ruby French, but in her obituary it says she was the daughter of a "Ward Lockwood." This is a rather unique sounding name. I just looked up an artist named "Ward Lockwood" a few weeks ago, curious about a painting he did, "Fragments of Elegance." I almost bought the print in 1956 for my apartment in Detroit. He was a well known painter In our Handy genealogy prepared by Esther"Tess" Handy Jacobs, there is an exhaustive study on the Lockwoods, the Wards, and related families back to the 1600s. But no mention of a "Ward Lockwood." If you want to know more, e-mail me or see my website: www.qtm.net/logcabincrafts. -Virginia Handy
