Lillian's Obituary
Lillian West, 86, of Benton Harbor, Michigan passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was born June 23, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Aurthur and Wilma (Handy) James. On November 8, 1945, she married her husband, Roger West Sr. Lillian worked as an auxiliary police officer for the South Haven Police Department for several years. She also worked as a realtor and a store detective at J.C. Penney. Lillian loved participating in sports such as golfing, racket ball, bowling and line dancing. She was also a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven, and at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings; Marian Hill and Mitchell Jordan.
She is survived by her two sons; Juan "Skip" (Joanne) West of Covert, Michigan. Roger (Fay) West Jr. of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Grandchildren; Angela (James) Hall, Juannie West, Ulysses (Deanna) West, Jessica West, Christopher (Lisa) West, Marcina West, Joy (Jerry) Blunston. A host of great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Paul Naumann. Lillian will be laid to rest in Stephenson Cemetery in South Haven, Michigan.
