Harold's Obituary

Harold Grey Culp died October 13, 2014 in South Haven, MI. He was born November 18, 1915 in Van Wert, OH. and was almost 99 years old. He graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, MI in 1923 and then did further study in drafting. He worked as a draftsman for Checker Cars in Kalamazoo, MI, Studebaker Corporation and South Bend Tool and Die in South Bend, IN. He later worked as a process engineer for Bendix in South Bend and for Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan, MI.

He Married Ruth Ellen Edwards on February 14, 1941 and they enjoyed a busy and active marriage until she died in 2012. After traveling to Bolivia with his missionary parents and traveling to Italy as a soldier in WWII, Harold avoided traveling abroad although he took frequent trips in the U.S. with his family on vacations from work. He settled in Niles, MI and after retirement, lived in Buchanan, MI., Winter Haven, FL., Columbus, IN., and South Haven, MI. He served lengthy terms as Sunday school superintendent for both Niles Evangelical United Bretheren Church and the Niles United Missionary Church.

He was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. After a nurse had taken his vital signs while he was in rehabilitation from a hip replacement, he asked "Am I still alive?". He will be missed by his children; John, his wife Jeanne, Suzanne, and Anita. His grandchildren; Heather and John.
